America is turning 250 — and our students have something to say.
Davis School District is hosting Voices of a Nation: Student Perspectives on 250 Years of America, a districtwide speaking event aligned with America 250 Utah.
Students from every school and grade level are invited to apply to deliver an original speech about America’s past, present or future.
Selected students will receive mentorship and take the stage on May 4, 2026, at the Davis Instructional Services Center in Layton. The event will be professionally produced and live streamed for the community.
You don’t have to be famous to have something worth saying.
Take the mic. Share your idea. Be part of the story.
Applications due March 18.
Apply at Davis School District America 250 Student Speaking Event

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our very own 2nd Grade teacher, Mrs. De Ann Mitchell, for receiving a prestigious award from the Davis School District (DSD)!
This recognition highlights the phenomenal growth she was able to achieve with her 2nd grade class last year. This kind of student success doesn't happen by accident—it takes skill, dedication, and heart! ❤️
We were honored to have Ruthanne Keller visit Doxey to personally recognize Mrs. Mitchell and present her with this well-deserved award.
The impact of her work is clear: “Their growth is my why.”
Thank you, Mrs. Mitchell, for embodying the excellence of the Doxey Dragons! Your commitment to student success makes all the difference.

Our first two meetings were a vibrant celebration of the diverse tapestry in our school. First, students designed personalized "Culture Suitcases" filled with traditional foods, music, and language samples, sparking lively connections. 💼
We followed that with an exhilarating Hispanic Heritage Month celebration! Students created colorful sugar skulls, learned to salsa dance in Spanish, and explored the traditions of over a dozen countries, sharing personal stories along the way. 🌎
With delicious treats like pupusas and queso fresco, and a look ahead to celebrating Native American Heritage Month, our journey to explore and appreciate the world's cultures is just getting started! Come join the fun!🐲
